More trousers BWOF 4-2009-118

Fortunately for me, the third pair of trousers from this pattern, BWOF 4-2009-118, looks quite different from the last two pairs.

The woeful welt pockets are not too bad (if you squint a bit) once they are placed in a large expanse of trouser, especially if I pretend that they were supposed to look like single welt pockets the whole time. As I have not even half a scrap of this fabric left, the welt pockets just have to stay in their current state.

Do you notice that this pair of trousers is far less tight fitting than the last pair, cut exactly the same. This is just as well, as I have been eating Easter eggs, but I find it a great sewing mystery that two fabrics, of similar weave and weight can behave quite differently.
The best thing about these trousers, is that I know I will never spill Chlorhexidine on them, they will resist rust stains, and will never tear. This is due to the disaster repelling properties thrown over a whole garment when an already stuffed up pocket or zip is present in the garment. I will not be able to throw out these trousers until the fabric wears through, just what I need for work pants!

I think they turned out very nicely and the pockets look pretty good to me.

Yes they look good, fit nicely and should be very useful to have in the wardrobe for ordinary days.

Great lookings pants and glad you have managed to get some sewing in amongst all the other Easter activities. Fingers crossed you can do some more.

Karen,

I am with you about the mysteries of fabric. Who can really say whether it is the fabric or the pattern that works?

The trousers are nice, wearable, and NO ONE will notice the welts.

PS As you never use your overlocker, one of my theories about why you are such a zippy seamstress has been exploded. I must continue to ponder.

Great fit!! I didn't squint at the pockets, but I think they look pretty good.

Good for you, ensuring that you will never damage the garment. A highly intelligent move that I myself have employed from time to time.

Clever, aren't we?
