Colette Parfait, second serving

I like my next version of the Colette Parfait dress even more than the first one.
SAM_3066
This one has a very slight pattern tweaking at the armscye/lateral bust and facing, to prevent gaposis.
Here is the highly technical folding of the pattern pieces for my alteration.

The other change is to be much more generous with the flaring of the skirt. Instead of getting out my french rule and altering the existing 6 gore, almost straight, skirt, I used the moderately flaring 4 gore skirt from Simplicity 3774 (review here), which I have made several times, and know to be comfortable and slightly swishy.

This skirt attaches to a straight waistline, so I rounded off the top to match the Parfait midriff.
The fabric is my very last piece of Japanese cotton that my kind friend bought for me in October 2009. I cut it out with a bit of fussing to avoid a bulls eye effect at the bust, but otherwise did not try to match the pattern. I feel a bit bereft without some Japanese cotton in my stash.

I love your Parfait dresses; it's a great style for you. And your daughter was gorgeous in her selfmade dress last post. I hope she keeps it up!

Very pretty - what a nice pattern. I am so jealous of your warm weather. It is 9 degress F here.

You look great in this dress, it is such a flattering style. I can't believe you made this without significant alteration. The pattern pieces on the "macaroon dress" I am making now bear little resemblance to their original shape...

Gorgeous! Adding a little flare to the skirt really works with the style. The fit is superb!

So cute! I like the idea of the 4 gore skirt...I found the 6 a little strange when I made this dress, and I totally had gappadeedoo happening too--great solution with the little folds.

I really like these parfait dresses. It looks like a pattern that is tweakable and fun too. And they look fantastic on you.

And your daughter's dress is just lovely - pass my compliments on to her if you think it will help encourage her :-)
