Jo Sharp Knit 7 Ra-Ra cape,.

My daughter asked me to knit this cape for her, but now that it is finished, I think she finds it a bit out there for her personal style.

The cape is constructed of 5 different pieces, from 10 yarns knit or crochet by themselves or in combination. I used mainly remnants from my statsh for the construction, as very little yarn is used of each type. None of the pieces are very difficult to make, and they are connected by rough threading together with i-cord.

I varied the pattern a little - mainly by using the same shade of mohair yarn throughout, but also by adding a row of shell pattern border to the crochet ruffle to make it a similar width to the knitted lace collar piece on the other side.

The cape is shown in the pattern book as being worn in several different ways, but my daughter really only likes it worn in this direction, which is the same way the model is wearing it on the cover of the pattern book.
I am interested to see if she wears it frequently. It was certainly a different type of knit garment to what I usually make. It is good to experiement occasionally.

I remember seeing this on the cover of the pattern book; It looks lovely. I like the way she has styled it, with a very simple white Tshirt and jeans... looks just right.
And your jacarandas are looking just lovely! Those divine lavender petals strewn about all over; my favourite aspect of spring... these are simply beautiful photographs of your daughter.

I think its great, but your daughter is very young and I can understand that she might feel self-conscious wearing it.

Very pretty! I hope your daughter wears it often and enjoys it. Sometimes stretching personal style a little is good :)

I love a bit of adventurous creating myself. Carolyn is right about the gorgeousness of your photos. Your daughter looks lovely.

(Me, I am a very fond of a bit of hand on the hip, stare at the camera with a rubbish bin in the background kind of photo too. There's a sweetness when there is such a lack of artifice.)

Your jacarandas are beautiful - the one in our garden is just budding.
This looks like one of those knitting projects that you never get bored making because there is so much variety! I hope your daughter gets to wear it, it looks lovely on her.

Lucky daughter ! I like it and your choice of different wools and textures. I too love your jacarandas but not the large expanse of lawn to mow ! - They must be the widest nature strips in all of Australia.

Romantic and cool! It becomes her (do you say it like that?) - as far as I know her. Hope she wears it. I think it would also look nice with a light green T-Shirt? Sorry for suggesting follow-up costs...
