Jalie 968 jeans

I finished item #11 from my daughter's SWAP today - Jalie 968 jeans. I am ridiculously pleased with how well they turned out. I had her model them for me this evening at sunset, after we got home from her dance class, so the photographs are not ideal, but I could not wait to put them up! This is my first attempt at jeans, although I have made denim shorts from a capri pants pattern as an earlier item in the SWAP. The construction of these is quite different, and very like RTW jeans as far as I can see. I made a size T, a size bigger than her measurements, as the reviewers at pattern review all commented on the very close fit of the jeans. On my DD they were too big, and I did take them in at the hip and waist. The length was perfect. I made a slight sway back adjustment, and possibly could have taken more from the back yoke.

Here is the back view. I topstitched loops on the back pockets, then hand embroidered bullion roses and buds in the loops. I embroidered the front left upper hip and pocket in a similar way.

I used the cotton print I have been using to trim the other garments in the swap as the zipper shield and pocket linings.

Detail of embroidery.

You should be ridiculously proud of them! They are absolutely great. I love the topstitching, the fly extension, the bullion roses, everything!

Wow they look great. You should be so proud of them. Your hand embroidery and all the details look fantastic. I love the fit and style, so much so I think I have to buy this pattern too :)
