Self Stitched September 27

I had a very busy day yesterday, and this photograph is taken at the end of it. The dress is pre-blogging, around 6 years old, and aside from the fitting around the back neck and shoulders, is one I liked a lot when I made it. The fabric is from Buttonhole, in West Branch Michigan, and is a Japanese cotton, lined with cotton batiste. It is much better quality fabric than that shown in the last dress, which is why I am still wearing the dress 6 years after construction.

September 27

This is the year I will cut up this dress to make a skirt. I say this to myself nearly every year. The other reason I am still able to wear this dress, is that I only wear it when I want a summer dress with sleeves, and all the other summer dresses with sleeves are unavailable (this is usually due to laundry lagging, not self imposed restrictions for Self Stitched September). It is too high at the back neck, which annoys me.

The pattern is Vogue 9668.

I might make it again now that I know more about fitting.

Shame about the fit issues. You can't see it in the photo. The fabric is worth salvaging.

Looks like a classic keeper! The fabric is beautiful. I can see why you have hung on to it, without cutting it up!

I have that pattern! I've never made it up though.
