Jalie 2796 exercise skirt

I have been wanting to make myself a Jalie exercise skirt since Melissa of Fehr trade wrote about this pattern.
Instead, I made two for my daughter, for a 24 hour "human powered vehicle" challenge. This was a team event, and she didn't want to be wandering around in bike shorts in between her shifts on the vehicle, so the Jalie skirt was perfect.

The pattern has a pair of exercise shorts, attached at the waistband to a little A line skirt with an incredibly clever overlapping side section that not only allows free hip movements for sport, but forms a nicely sized pocket.

The  outer fabric I used was "titanium", a robust wicking poly blend from Stretchtex in 2 colours. The inner shorts are made from their compression sports fabric.

I sewed the inside shorts with the seams to the outside, to minimise chafing.
My only other change to the pattern was to use a coverstitch for hemming.

This is a terrific skirt, and I still want to make one for myself!

Stashbusting statistics, about 2m of a 2012 purchase of mixed technical fabrics (2pr shorts + 2 skirts adds up pretty quickly..

It's a great little skort! I like your two-colour version, and it's super fit. I made one for myself a couple of years ago, and love it.

Looks great! My daughters just started running and I think she would love one.
A quick question about the fabric - can you order direct from Stretchtex or do they have suppliers? I'm finding it pretty hard to get decent sports fabrics here in Australia.

I need to make up this pattern as it looks perfect on your daughter. Would it be possible to attach the skirt to a pair of purchased bike shorts?

I love this pattern, and I've currently made five skirts for myself and my daughter in several different fabrics. So comfy, and the pockets are great for carrying a phone, ipod etc.

I'd like to add my request to Suzy's. Any light you could shed on sourcing sports fabric in Australia would be great. I've come up short so far. And that skirt looks great too.

This is my fav cover up piece when we go to the beach. You have to make one for yourself.

This looks really great and I like the colors you chose. Besides being practical, it looks stylish and comfortable for just hanging about in.

This one's on my list, but a long bleak winter is between me and spring.

A great looking garment!
As a sewer and a runner I also am keen to know where you source your Stretchtex
