I felt that my main reason for lack of posting was that I had written so much about the jacket in construction post one and construction post two, that you would all be sick of hearing about it, but after the rush photo job this afternoon before the light faded completely, now feel that no mere point and shoot job can do my leather jacket justice. I will post about it anyway, but assure you that it looks better in real life - and when I haven't been at work all day.
I think I will mostly wear the jacket open, for both climate and sartorial reasons.
I like the cuff zips, but wish the photo was of the other one, which is neater. Fortunately I have almost forgotten the trickiness of the topstitching.
The jacket has a lot of movement room for such a stiff construction material, and close fit.
My favourite part is the secret embroidered pocket and silk lining.
I am very glad that I gave into my strange impulse to make this jacket in high summer. I now have an excellent winter jacket as the cool weather starts, timed nicely with the later phase of "Isewedititis", where I have considerable trouble remembering the many imperfections from my construction.
I wonder where I have put that red suede?

You must be so proud to get such a superb jacket out of a tricky project. You will be wearing this for years and years. Sewing leather is something that I have not tried yet.

When you look close up at expensive RTW, it has all the same imperfections too, so I wouldn't give it a second thought.

that is one fabulous jacket - as I mentioned before I have some sued that I am trying to be brave enough to cut into - but there will be definitely a muslin first in something as close to sued as I can find

Well done! Love all those zippers and the fit/construction are superb. Time in the Magic Closet is important for tricky projects. The longer I take between making a piece and blogging it, the less I am obsessed with its imperfections (though I forget critical details, so it's a balance!).

It does look amazing and I'm glad we got to see it at last. I would love to make a suede jacket but am wondering if I could ever keep it clean, seeing as though I don't actually suit dirt brown..

I am glad to see the final product post. It's a beautiful jacket and I hope you get a lot of wear out of it. Isn't it nice to take a break from thinking about a project; then when you come back to it you can just enjoy the job well done instead of the pains it took to get there (well, mostly). Kind of like childbirth, hehe.
